LA County Women's Needs Assessment: Data Walk

The purpose of the meeting was to generate ideas for the Recommendations Section of the first-ever Los Angeles Countywide Women’s Needs Assessment.

Our Principal Investigators, Samantha Batko with Urban Institute and Sofia Herrera with Hub for Urban Initiatives, presented preliminary data from the survey. Coalition members provided unique perspectives on how data translates to programs, best practices, policy, funding, and feedback regarding what recommendations we should lift to best address the needs of women experiencing homelessness.

Creating Safe Shelter Spaces for LGBTQ+ Survivors Training

Informed by guidance from people with lived expertise, this presentation covers promoting access and inclusion to LGBTQ+ survivors in congregate shelter living, navigating constraints of funding or space in creative ways to allow accessibility to survivors of different gender identities and sexual orientations, and learning from examples in the field role modeling LGBTQ+ inclusion in domestic violence shelter and services. The presentation was conducted by Amanda Gould and Amy Bellm.

Strategic Plan Implementation Member Engagement Session

In this gathering, we reviewed the new DVHSC Strategic Plan, co-designed with DVHSC Members throughout 2022. We were excited to hear members share their reflections as we move further into implementing action towards the five strategic recommendations including Circle of Learning, Professional Networking, Community Training, Advancing Advocacy, & Economic Opportunities.

The Relationship Between Reproductive Justice and Domestic Violence

The purpose of the training is to expand the service delivery network between organizations working on reproductive justice and domestic violence. This training will explore how reproductive justice and domestic violence intersect with home insecurity and public health outcomes. The training will examine the relationship between reproductive justice and the domestic violence field's principles, practices, policies, and advocacy.
